Mentally Ill victims...again
A federal judge just issued a scathing report on the antics of nursing homes operators for using scare tactics to trick those who are mentally ill into staying in their homes instead of transferring to a community setting.
For those who have a mental illness, this is not a surprise and for those who have a mental illness but have so much blind faith in their Care Providers they will do whatever they say or take whatever they prescribe, this is, no doubt, an eye opening experience for them and a good example of why you should rely only on yourself for your well being, people will fail you, even your doctor.
Just because your PCP (Primary Care Physician)prescribes a pill does not mean that is the right pill for you and it should not takes years to find the correct anti-depressant to correct depression, bi-polar or schizophrenia, that is an indication of bad health care.
Mental illness is an easily treatable illness which strikes 1 in 5 people, 85% of which are expected to recover fully.

Happy 4th of July (2010_
Of all the celebrations today, the best was the email sent by The White House and First Lady Michelle Obama thanking our people in the military and the cook-out at the White House today thanking them for their dedication and sacrifices to help this country stay free.
It was also fun to see the hot dog eating contest at Coney Island and congratulations to the winner, Joey Chestnut.
The Firework celebrations here in Chicago and this includes my neighborhood, Lawndale were awesome and fun.
Actor Jimmy Smits featured a small spot on TV explaining today's celebration as Independence Day and exactly what and why we celebrate it.
Thanks Jimmy and thank you POTUS Barack Obmma and First Lady Michelle Obama for the reminding us most important part of today, celebrating our people in the military and their families who made this day, Independence Day possible.
Happy Birthday Melia Obama.

Fake cops rob real cops
Houses Burglarized
Targeted on the southwest side:
A pair of home burglaries Friday in Chicago has police combing the streets. They're not typical break-ins. They happened at the homes of two Chicago police officers.
CBS 2 [...] reports that thieves got away with a 0.9 mm handgun, ammunition, a gun belt, a Chicago Police Department star and body armor vest -- all from one officer's home on the Southwest side.
About three miles away, also on the Southwest side, thieves hit another officer's home. Sometime between 4:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., they rummaged through two cars in the garage. Police say they took a stereo, a Chicago Police Department uniform shirt and name plate and a pair of handcuffs.
We don't know what to advise here - get a dog, a safe, an alarm, be aware you may be followed home. We are all targets. Be aware.
-Predators roaming the streets dressed in stolen cop uniforms, vests, sirens and stolen I'd's, this results in a cop vs cop scenario, just so the lazy and thieves can prey on the productive, intelligent members of society.
It is true, be safe and alert, the enemy is among us as well as all around us.
As Duane Jackson, the vendor who stopped a certain terrorist attacks, says "if you see something, say something."

CPS Foreign Language Classes Face Cuts

May 12, 2010 10:21 a.m.
Elementary-age children would no longer have a chance to learn a foreign language at their neighborhood public school under a decision to dump "world languages" to save $3.5 million, Chicago Public School officials revealed to the Chicago Sun-Times Tuesday.
The move to ax languages such as Spanish, Japanese, French, Italian and Latin affects 25 neighborhood elementary schools that offer magnet programs in "world languages,'' as well as Juarez and Roosevelt high schools, officials said.
Without more money from Illinois lawmakers, the "world language'' magnet programs in the following city public schools are scheduled to be eliminated next school year:
Louisa May Alcott School
Andersen Community Academy
Ariel Community Academy
James G. Blaine School
Jonathan Burr Elementary School
Rachel Carson Elementary School
Salmon P. Chase School
William E. B. Dubois School
Robert Emmet School
Horace Greeley School
Alex Haley School
Bret Harte Elementary School
Hughes/Davis
Charles Evans Hughes School
Friedrich L. Jahn School
George Leland Elementary School
Cyrus H. McCormick School
James Monroe School
Norwood Park Elementary School
James Otis School
William H. Ray School
Harriet E. Sayre Language Academy
Beulah Shoesmith School
John Greenleaf Whittier School
Telpochcalli
Theodore Roosevelt High School
Benito Juarez High School
Outside Ray Elementary in Hyde Park on Tuesday, more than 100 frustrated parents and teachers protested the proposed loss of a program that starts teaching kids Spanish in prekindergarten.
Parents say Spanish classes are the kind of perk that private schools enjoy, and one that makes Ray -- where U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan's kids attended classes -- attractive to families outside the neighborhood.
Ray parent Ying Zhang, who speaks English and Chinese, said knowing another language "makes our kids more competitive in the world'' -- a goal often emphasized by Mayor Daley.
"In another 20 or 30 years, the population that speaks Spanish is going to be dominant in the United States, so knowing Spanish is very important,'' Zhang said. "To learn another culture and language is very important in a global economy.''
A day earlier, the local alderman, Ald. Leslie Hairston (5th), grilled Schools CEO Ron Huberman about the cuts at a City Council Finance Committee hearing.
Hairston said she wants a list of schools offering world languages, as well as those facing cuts, to see if every school is taking an equal hit under a proposal intended to help fill a $600 million budget gap.
Late Tuesday, CPS Budget Chief Christina Herzog released a list of 27 affected schools and said all world language magnet program positions were being closed -- a total of 40 jobs -- for a savings of $3.5 million. It was not clear why two high schools were singled out.
CPS intends to restore the world language program if lawmakers boost next year's funding to this year's level, CPS spokeswoman Monique Bond said.
Former School Chief, Michael Scott committed suicide after reports of his misuse of credit cards and other charges of corruption were made against him.
Corruption reigns in Chicago and the State of Illinois and the innocent school children will pay the price for this corruption.

Crook County Strikes Again -
New data shows blacks fleeing the high crime in Chicago, a city known for its rampant corruption.
The city also is populated by human traffickers who have made females their primary target as sex slaves.
FOX32 ran this article:
Chicago's Black Population Drops to 3rd
There was a time when African-Americans fled north to escape the racial oppression of the South.
But that trend has reversed according to a study showing that the Chicago area's population of African Americans has dropped from second to third place behind Atlanta.
This reversal of the ''Great Migration'' is one of the findings of a Brookings Institution Study, ''The State of Metropolitan America,'' released over the weekend.
In 1990, metropolitan Atlanta's black population ranked seventh in the nation. By 2000, it was fourth. And by 2008, Census estimates put Atlanta in second with 1.669 million African-Americans, eclipsing Chicago's 1.667 million. The New York City area remains the largest concentration of African-Americans, with 3.1 million.
